Maybe it's not my weekend, but it's gonna be my year

The day started with the cries of the neighbor's baby. That baby never shuts up.
-"Ay Dios mio, baby," Rosa whispered, "I like to sleep too."

Slowly, Rosa Lee rose out of her bed like a vampire out of her coffin, which is exactly how she felt. She's been dull and lifeless, ever since that fatal accident...

Living on the twelfth floor of the Castle Apartments has its perks, like the "great view" of the city. But living in this town has more cons than pros, and its those cons that keep pushing Rosa Lee to find a way out of this town. Every time she tries to leave, something keeps holding her back, from her job to the fact that she has no money from her crappy job as a secretary at the Good Samaritan Clinic.

Instead of pondering on her shitty life, Rosa Lee decided it was time to get ready for her shitty job.

Pushing her golden blonde hair back from her olive toned face, Rosa went into the best part about her whole apartment: the closet. She grabbed a white button down and a black pencil skirt. She ironed her clothes, because "Rosa Lee, it's a requirement of this job to look and be professional," says the boss who drinks schnapps like a fish drinks water.

She brushed her teeth and jumped in the shower, cold as usual, and got out as quickly as possible. While she was blow drying her hair, Rosa Lee got a phone call.

RRRRIIIIIIINNNNNGGGGG!!!!!

     -"Hello"
-"Keep pulling the sweater," said an eerie, yet stupid voice.
     -"I'm sorry, what?"
-"Keep pulling the sweater. Eventually the whole thing will unravel."
     -"Wow, nice Zoolander quote, moron."

And with that, Rosa Lee hung up. Looking at her alarm clock and realizing that she was running late, Rosa Lee quickly put on her clothes, tucked her shirt in, put on her black heels, and ran to the bathroom. She quickly lined her forest green eyes with black eye liner and ran out to the elevator. Her noisy neighbor, Ms. Parisi and her noisy baby decided now was the best time to get on the elevator with Rosa. On the elevator, the baby wouldn't stop crying, and then her mother dropped her purse.

-"Excuse me, Rosa," she said in her strong Sicilian accent, "Can you hold Jade for one moment? I need to get my purse."

Making a slight frown, Rosa took the screaming baby girl, knowing this wasn't going to end well. When the elevator stopped on the fourth floor, Rosa Lee couldn't be any happier. The noisy neighbor grabbed her purse and baby, and headed to God knows where on the fourth floor, leaving Rosa on the calm, quiet elevator. That is, until the elevator stopped in between the third and second floor.

What a great way to start the day, Rosa Lee thought, as she waited for the maintenance man.

  1. i thought this was very well done. I got a lot of character insight and back story fast without it being boring and dry. It was an easy read and not confusing at all. Very well done.
